Obituary of Raymond Pascoe

Raymond William Pascoe, 85, of Pleasant Valley, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital. Mr. Pascoe was a social worker for New York State and a Methodist Minister for 12 years in Upstate New York Northern NY Council, retiring Nov. 7, 1988. He served in the United States Navy Seabeas serving in Alutions and Okinowa. Mr. Pascoe was a member of the Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church. He enjoyed wood working, photography and raising German Shepherds. Born April 27, 1923 in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of the late Frank and Dorothy Beesmer and stepmother Elizabeth Dutcher. He was a graduate of Arlington High School, Vassar College and Syracuse University. In 1947, in Poughkeepsie, he married Anna Jean Sweeny. Mrs. Pascoe died May 20, 2004. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Raymond Jr. and Judy Pascoe, Eagan, MN; daughter and son-in-law, Sherryl and Joseph Laffin, Boone, NC; daughter and son in-law, Rebecca and John VanAckooy, Pleasant Valley, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Mark Riggs, Pleasant Valley, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Christian Palevich, Kingston, NY; step sister, Maureen Schade, Hopewell Junction, NY. He was predeceased by his sisters, Janet Becker and Dorothy Riter, brother Harry Pascoe; and his son, Randall on December 23, 1987. He is also survived by grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 20, at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church, New Hackensack Rd., Poughkeepsie. Burial will be in the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Ave., Poughkeepsie. Memorial donations may be made to the Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church, New Hackensack Rd., Poughkeepsie, NY.
