Obituary of Gino Pecchia

Gino J. Pecchia, 58 of Poughkeepsie, NY went with God Tuesday morning July 26, 2011, surrounded by his family in Salisbury, CT after a well-fought and valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. He continued the family business as a master carpenter and was known for his craftsmanship. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and kayaking. He was a member of the Italian Center in Poughkeepsie since 1985 where he volunteered as the chairman of the Toscana Provincial Night. He was a junior peewee football coach, a little league baseball coach, and served as the President of the Dutchess Youth Hockey Association. He was well respected in the community. He was born July 24, 1953 in Poughkeepsie, NY to Amerigo and Emilia Pecchia. He was a 1971 graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes High School where he later served on reunion committees, and graduated Marist College in 1975. He was married May 31, 1975 to his high school sweetheart Kay Kirkpatrick at Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie. Gino was a proud and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son. He enjoyed every moment he spent with his family and leaves behind a beautiful legacy. He is survived by his loving wife Kay Pecchia; his daughter Kristi, her husband Keith Dominique, and their children Jake, Noah, and Lily; his son David, his wife Juliana and their children Paisley and Harper; his son Craig; his son Brian and his girlfriend Jessica Fitch; his son Brandon; his father Amerigo Pecchia; his brother Victor Pecchia and his wife Donna; his sister Maria Pecchia; and his sister Lisa and her husband Brian Engles. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Mary C. Kirkpatrick, sister-in-law Terrie Cruger, sister-in-law Jayne Kelly, brother-in-law Mickey Kirkpatrick, brother-in-law Bryan Kirkpatrick and his wife Tracey, sister-in-law Amy and her husband Henry Cibelli, and sister-in-law Jonni and her husband Brian Nash. He also has numerous godchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Emilia Pecchia, his father-in-law Bernard T. Kirkpatrick, his sister-in-law Carol Kirkpatrick, his brother-in-law Tom Cruger, and his Godmother Delia DiCapua. Calling hours will be 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, NY on Thursday July 28, 2011. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday July 29, 2011 at 11am at Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie, NY.
