Obituary of Thomas Pendell

Dr. Thomas G. Pendell, 74, a lifetime area resident and formerly of Beacon, died Sunday, July 6, 2008 at home. Dr. Pendell was a self-employed Chiropractor in Poughkeepsie, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the American Chiropractic Association, American Contract Bridge League - Life Master, American Poolplayers Association (Rank of 6) and the Kiwanis Club. He served on the Wappingers Central School Board (Past President), Hudson Valley Philharmonic Board (Past Treasurer of Board), Southern Dutchess Country Club (Board of Directors), Dutchess County Bridge Association (Treasurer) and was Palmer College Student Council President and Class President. He was also a Chiropractic Consultant for the US Veterans Hospital in Castle Point from 1966 to 1967. Dr. Pendell served in the US Army. Born May 26, 1934 in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of Robert G. and Alice Gerow Pendell. He was a graduate of Beacon High School, received his BA from Colgate University, attended Albany Law School, Palmer College and the International College of Applied Kinesiology. He received the Outstanding Graduate Award from Palmer College in 1966. Survivors include his son, Robert G. Pendell of Manchester, CT; his daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie W. Pendell and John Franz; his son, Thomas G. Pendell Jr. of Stamford, CT; and grandchildren, Madison and Peter Pendell. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert G. Pendell. Calling hours will be 4-8 p.m., Thursday, July 10, at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, July 11, at the funeral home.
