Obituary of Stella Rentz

Stella Rentz, of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed quietly April 16 after a long illness. She was 89. The youngest of three siblings born to Polish parents in Brooklyn in 1919, Stella worked at a wartime manufacturing plant in Long Island City, where she met her husband to be, Leonard. The two married six years later in 1950. Stella later was a professional fitter who worked for a time for Manhattan fashion designer Hattie Carnegie. She remained in the industry throughout her career. In 1967, the Rentz family relocated to the Poughkeepsie area where she continued with dressmaking and home decor for various clients. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Leonard, and daughters Tricia Kasner and Joni Rentz, both of Brooklyn, NY. A memorial service will be held Monday, April 20 at 9:45am at Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice Foundation, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Arrangements are under the direction of the Timothy P.
