Obituary of Charles Roberts

Charles Arnold Roberts Sr., 73, a lifelong Dutchess County residence, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009 at the V.A. Hospital, Castle Point, NY. Mr. Roberts was a disabled Veteran. He served in the U.S. Navy for 11 1/2 years and was in the Korean War. He held the Rank of 1st Class Chief Petty Officer. Mr. Roberts was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He loved his family and enjoyed bowling and fishing. Born July 16, 1935 in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of the late Bengermin F. and Dora Blanch Calhoun Roberts. He attended Poughkeepsie Schools. On Aug. 3, 1968 in Wappingers Falls, he married Karen F. Matulovich. Mrs. Roberts survives at home. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his son, Charles R. Jr. of Indianapolis, IN; his daughter, Dorrene Pruitt of Fountain, CO; his sister, Marlene Broyoff of Tennessee; his stepbrother, Walter P. Salvatore Sr. of Florida; his stepsister, Betty Salvatore of Hudson, NY; three granddaughters, Cheynne, Carsyn and Madison; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Alberta Wishart and Muriel VanTassell; his brothers, Bengermin Roberts Jr., Argele Roberts, George Roberts, Harold Roberts, Eugene Roberts and Edward Roberts; and his stepbrother, Jack Salvatore. Calling hours will be 10 -11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Church of Latter Day Saints. Funeral services will begin at 11:15 a.m. Burial will be in the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, with Military Honors.
