Obituary of Barbara Robins

Barbara J. Robins, 77, of Poughkeepsie, died Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. Mrs. Robins was a homemaker. She was a member of Western Retirees; the membership Secretary of that organization; and a member of Community Methodist Church. Mrs. Robins was a fan of tennis, NASCAR and golf. She loved to play Bingo and enjoyed camping and watching the Mets. Born Aug. 9, 1931 in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of the late Byron and Mary Symington Stickle. She was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School. On Sept. 9, 1951 in Washington Street Hedding Church, she married Robert Robins. Mr. Robins died Jan. 10, 2004. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Lawrence Mielich of Hyde Park; her daughter, Nancy Ranalli of Staatsburg; her daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Raymond Strohm of Wappingers Falls; her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Christine Robins of Poughkeepsie; her brother, Byron Stickle of Poughkeepsie; her sister, Doris Creighton of Poughkeepsie; her grandchildren, Jennifer Massarone, Kaela Woolsey, Robert Mielich, Vincent Ranalli and Zachary Strohm; and her great-grandchildren, Matthew, Mackenize, Madison and Austin. She was predeceased by her brother, Charles Harry Stickle. Calling hours will be 3-7 p.m., Friday, June 5, at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, June 6, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Route 9G, Hyde Park.
