Obituary of Eugene Robinson

Eugene O. Robinson, 78, of Pleasant Valley, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2009 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. Mr. Robinson was a Butcher at A&P and also at Pecks Market in Pine Plains, retiring in 1993. He served in the United States Naval Reserves. He lived for his kids and loved to read and be around friends and family. Born Nov. 5, 1930 in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of Alfred and Emma Pride Robinson. He was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School. On Nov. 11, 1950 in Poughkeepsie, he married Joyce L. Mason. Mrs. Robinson died Feb. 17, 2007. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Charles Cole of Poughkeepsie; and his daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Robert Wilde of Georgia; his son, Brian Robinson of Poughkeepsie; his sister, Joan Zeleznik of Pleasant Valley; his brothers, Carl Robinson of Pleasant Valley; Ronald Robinson of Texas; and Leonard Robinson of Long Island; his grandchildren, Tonya Clifford of Poughkeepsie; Carrie Raye Backus of Poughkeepsie; Sarah Wilde of Georgia; and Allison Wilde of Georgia; and his great-grandson, Joseph Clifford of Poughkeepsie. He was predeceased by his brother, Alfred Robinson and three sisters, Evelyn Connors, Geraldine Evans and Audrey Robinson. Calling hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 8, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Route 9G, Hyde Park.
