Obituary of James Sanborn

James Warren Sanborn, age 76, Pleasant Valley died Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at home surrounded by his family. Mr. Sanborn was born June 27, 1934 in Brookline, MA the son of the late Merle Merrill and the late Agnes (Heisler) Sanborn. He married Diane Christiana August 18, 1962 at Federated Church Of Kerhonkson New York. He served in the United States Naval Reserves. He retired July 31, 1991 after 36 years of service from IBM Poughkeepsie as a Technician. James was a member of the Poughkeepsie Elks # 275, Pirate Canoe Club, Aquatic Explores Scuba Club and the IBM Quarter Century Club. He was a member of the New Hackensack Reformed Church. James was a referee of High School Hockey and Soccer, coached soccer at Arlington High School, A Pop Warner football coach, Founder of the LaGrange Basketball league, was a baseball coach for the LaGrange Little League and was a Inductee to the Sports Museum of Dutchess County. He is survived by his wife: Diane Christiana Sanborn at home, his sons and their spouses; James M. and Stacy Sanborn of Poughkeepsie NY, Craig S. and Karen Sanborn of Poughkeepsie NY, Keith R. and Tricia Sanborn of Twinsburg Ohio, grandchildren; Devon, Mason, Nathan, Jared, Jamie and Brianne. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 at the New Hackensack Reformed Church; Burial will be private in the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
