Obituary of Samuel Senate

Samuel B. Senate, 70, a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, passed away on August 5, 2010 at home. He had previously been employed as a Correction Officer for Dutchess County, retiring in 2003. He had been a local area resident since 1974, previously residing in Bronx, NY. He had served in the United States Marine Corps. He had represented the United States team in international competition. He was a 9 time New York State weightlifting champion and silver medalist in Maccabbiah Gemis. He was born in Bronx, NY on December 29, 1939, the son of Charles Senate and Lillian Bernstein. He attended Farmingdale Community College. He married Rosalie Coniglio on September 15th in Dutchess County. His wife survives at home. He is also survived by his daughter and son in-law; Brenda and Helmut Kruger of Pleasant Valley, NY, his daughter and son in-law; Susan and Christopher Pappas of Poughkeepsie, NY, his daughter and son in-law; Jane and John Argento of Poughkeepsie, NY, and his son and daughter in-law; Joel and Margaret Senate of Wappingers Falls, NY. He is also survived by his children; Marjorie, Melissa, and Joseph Senate, nephew and his wife; Michael and Kathy Lomuscio of Poughkeepsie, NY, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and Lois and Mario, his brother and sister in law of Florida. He was predeceased by Faith Senate. Memorial donations may be made to: Hospice Foundation 374 Violet Ave, Poughkeepsie NY, or the American Cancer Society. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, August 6, 2010 at 11am, at the Temple Beth El Cemetery, with Rabbi Neal Loevinger officiating. Burial will take place at the Temple Beth El Cemetery, Route 44, Poughkeepsie, NY. Arrangements are under the direction of the Timothy P.
