Obituary of Shirley Simon

Shirley F. Simon, 83, a lifetime area resident and most recently of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on July 6, 2010 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was a homemaker for most of her life, and was also a retired waitress, having worked at the Alumni House, Poughkeepsie. She was born in Saugerties and also grew up there. She attended the Nurses Cadet Program at Vassar Brothers Medical Center during WWII. She was the mother of three sons and loved being with them. She was born in Saugerties, NY on February 18, 1927, the daughter of Chester Beers and Florence (Webster) Beers. She attended Saugerties High school. She married Peter P. Simon in 1946 in Saugerties. Her husband predeceased her on September 11, 1998. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Randall P. and Dianne Simon, Carolina Beach, NC, her son and daughter in law, Wayne P. and Karen Simon, Poughkeepsie, NY, her son, Peter C. Simon, Wappingers Falls, NY, her grandchildren, Marissa Lynn, Mike, Pat, and Amanda Nichole Simon, and her great grandchildren, Kayla, Kerri, Cole and Olivia. Calling hours will be on Thursday, July 8, 2010 from 5 to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Funeral services will be held on July 9, 2010 at 11am at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc. Burial will take place in St. Peter's Cemetery, Salt Point Turnpike, NY.
