Obituary of George Theodoropoulos

George Theodoropoulos, 88, of Poughkeepsie, passed away on Monday, Nov. 30, 2009 at the River Valley Care Center in Poughkeepsie. A lifelong area resident, he was employed as a Machinist for DeLaval in Poughkeepsie. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Born in Poughkeepsie on June 11, 1921, he was the son of John and Anastasia Pappasconstantino Theodoropoulos. He attended Poughkeepsie schools. He is survived by his sister in law, Jane Theodoropoulos of Red Wood City, California; three nephews and their wives, Mark and Nancy, David and Sheri and Paul and Valerie Theodoropoulos; cousins, Kathy and Dennis Fouhy and Linda and Frank Corliss of Poughkeepsie and several other cousins. He was predeceased by his siblings, Mary, Bessie, Stanley and Peter Theodoropoulos. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. A Memorial Service will follw visitation at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, 342 South Ave., Poughkeepsie.
