Obituary of Mary Williams

Mary E. Williams, 88, an 80 year resident local resident, formerly of Waterbury, CT, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2009 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. Mrs. Williams was a homemaker. She was a member of the YWCA and the Association of Marist College and St. Peter's Church. Born April 6, 1920 in Waterbury, CT, she was the daughter of Charles M. and Jeannette May Shaw. On Sept. 12, 1940 in Boston, MA, she married Dean Allen Williams. Mr. Williams predeceased her on Nov. 14, 1979. Survivors include her son, Allan Williams of Poughkeepsie; son and daughter-in-law, Timothy W. and Susan Williams of Poughkeepsie; son and daughter-in-law, Terrence W. and Ann Marie Williams of Hyde Park; granddaughters, Shawna M. Williams and Paula M. Williams; sister, Eileen M. Shaw of Poughkeepsie; and sister-in-law, Beverly Shaw. She was predeceased by three brothers, Charles Shaw, William M. Shaw and J. Francis Shaw and a sister, Helena C. Skelly. Calling hours will be 5-9 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 8, at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 9, at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Salt Point Turnpike, Poughkeepsie. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Mary E.
