Obituary of Virginia Wing

Virginia Wing, 78, entered into rest on Monday, Feb. 16, 2009 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie surrounded by her family. A beautiful angel embraced God's open arms. She was a woman with the most amazing capacity to give, to love and to accept everyone. Virginia was the most magnificent mother and wife whose greatest joy was her family. Her unwavering love and devotion to her children became more encompassing as her grandchildren were born. Virginia was a strong, independent, kind, compassionate woman and instilled those qualities in her children. She graciously welcome everyone into her home and always made them feel comfortable. Virginia found tremendous pleasure in the simple things in life. She loved nature, birds, was an avid gardener and enjoyed reading. Virginia was a phenomenal cook, well known far and wide for her delicious culinary creations. Through the years she enjoyed adding to her extensive collection of glass slippers and miniature teddy bears. Virginia's passing leaves an immense, permanent hole in the lives of those who knew and loved her but she'll forever live close in their hearts and loving memories. "Over the years she changed in my eyes from being the best mom in the world, to one of the most amazing women I ever met' Kevin Coble. Born on March 4, 1930, Virginia was the daughter of Della and Willard Sherow. She was a graduate of Millbrook High School and worked at the Millbrook Coffee Spot and Cabletronics. Alfred, her husband of 50 years, survives at home. In addition, she is survived by her daughter, Cathy Richards-Hingos and her husband, Steve of Kingston; her daughter, Susan Richards of Mamaroneck; her daughter, Cheryl Wing-Golabeck, her husband, Joseph and three grandchildren, Danielle, Brittany and Madison of Carmel; and two sisters, Della Wing of Millbrook and Marie Vincent of Hyde Park.
