Obituary of Daniel Dakin

Daniel Peter Dakin, age 64, of Poughkeepsie died Friday, December 30, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Mr. Dakin was born November 13, 1947 in Poughkeepsie, NY the son of the late Daniel Albert and Mary J. (Habinowski) Dakin. Daniel was a Graduate of Arlington High School and Dutchess Community College. He served in the Navy from 1968 to 1970 during Vietnam War. He was a retired employee of the New York State Police Department as a Sr. Investigator working in the Violent Felony Warrants Division. Daniel was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie, a member of the NRA, American Legion and the NYSTA PBA. Daniel loved to Hunt, Fish and camp and he held a Third Degree Black belt in Karate. He is survived by his mother Mary J. (Habinowski) Dakin of Albany New York; Son and Daughter In-law, Peter J. And Joey Dakin of Hyde Park, NY; Daughter And Son In-law, Stacey And Don Garofano of New Hampshire; Grandchildren, Leia, Liam, Luke And Mackenzie and his sister and brother in-law; Denise and Craig Hill of Georgia. Daniel was predeceased by his father Daniel Albert Dakin, his son Daniel Kerr Dakin and a sister Kathleen Bogart. Calling hours will be Tuesday January 3, 2012 from 4pm to 8pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. A prayer service will be held during visitation. Burial with Military Honors will be at the Gerald B.
