Obituary of Marjorie Berkowitz

Marjorie E. Berkowitz, age 83, of Hyde Park, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at home surrounded by her family. Marjorie was born April 24, 1929 in Manhattan, NY. She is the daughter of the late Thomas and the late Ena Doris (Sheppard) Clarke. She married Philip Berkowitz on April 23, 1949 in New York City. She was predeceased by her husband, Philip Berkowitz on February 5, 1982. She was employed by ARA Services Poughkeepsie as a Accounts Clerk. Marjorie was a local resident since 1974, previously from Long Island, East Northport and Binghamton New York. She loved knitting, bowling, ceramics and crocheting, but most of all she loved her family. She is survived by four sons: Robert A. Berkowitz of Anderson, SC, Gene T. Berkowitz of Poughkeepsie, NY, Bruce Berkowitz of Poughkeepsie, NY; Paul C. Berkowitz and his wife Priscilla Berkowitz of Poughkeepsie, NY.; grandchildren Nicole Z., Stefan P., Jason, Philip and Helene Berkowitz. Marjorie is also survived by her great grandchildren, Dominick Tanner, Jadon, Nickolaus, Jaydin, Cameron Berkowitz and her sister Claramond Tesoriero. Marjorie was predeceased by a sister Estelle Katona and a daughter. The funeral will be held 10:00 am on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial will be at the Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale NY. Calling hours will be Friday, July 13 from 4pm to 8pm at Timothy P.
