Obituary of Jean Verity

Jean Elizabeth Verity, 86, passed away at the Pines of Poughkeepsie after a long illness. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 27, 1926 to Fred and Martha Carman. She met and married the love of her life, George Edward Verity at the Calvary Protestant Church in Baldwin, NY. They relocated to Poughkeepsie in 1954 where George continued his career with IBM. He predeceased her on February 5, 1991. Jean was a loving life wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed ceramics, and needlework, as well as collecting dolls, frog figurines, and jewelry. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was actively involved with their activities and attended concerts, sporting events, and celebrations. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Poughkeepsie which included serving on the board of Deacons. After her husband's death she enjoyed traveling with friends and family, and volunteering at the Baptist Home in Rhinebeck, NY. She is survived by three daughters; Carol Moran of Poughkeepsie, Susan Greene and husband Brian of Sewickley, PA., Nancy Clark and husband David also residing in Poughkeepsie. She is also survived by her six grandchildren; Jennifer Meloling, Christopher Luhmann, Jeffrey Greene, Patrick Greene, Daniel Clark, and Timothy Clark and three great-grandchildren; Emerick and Vivan Luhmann, and Collin Meloling. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call from 4:30-8:30PM on Wednesday July 18, 2012 at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
