Obituary of Charles Behrens

Charles John Behrens. Beloved son, father, brother, and animal lover, Charles was a 1972 graduate of Tappan Zee High School. He attended Dominican College where he played soccer and varsity lettered as co-captain of the hockey team. He received his B.A. in Psychology in 1976. Completing Officer's Training School, he achieved the rank of Ensign in the United States Navy; his term of duty was 1976-1980. After a career in customer service and sales with companies including A.C. Nielsen and Dream Cakes, Inc., he furthered his education receiving his M. Ed. from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell in 1992. He subsequently taught language arts to Middle School Students in Virginia, Tennessee, Nevada and New York. He retired to his favorite city, Las Vegas, where he offered private tutoring in reading and writing. He is survived by his parents, Jean and Charles Behrens; his daughter Charlotte; brother John Behrens (Kathleen); sisters Jean Mangun (William), Christine Sisler (Gary), and Justine Favre (Joseph), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Dutchess County SPCA, Hyde Park, NY 12538.
