Obituary of Helen Golden

Helen V. Golden, 91, of Poughkeepsie passed away on Monday, September 10, 2012 at the Lutheran Care Center. Helen was born on June 16, 1921 in West Haven, CT and was the daughter of the late William and Anna Coyle Quirk. She had been a local resident for the last 8 ½ years coming from Chicopee, MA. She had also been a previous resident of Clearwater, FL, Ardsley and Bronx, NY. She had attended Stone Business College. On May 15, 1943 Helen married Lawrence J. Golden in New London, CT and they were married for 62 years. Her husband predeceased her on November 22, 2003. Helen had worked for PepsiCo and Proctor & Gamble, retiring in 1981. Helen was a member of St. Martin de Porres Church and she was an amazing seamstress, a great reader and enjoyed bowling and playing cards with her friends in Florida. Most of all she loved her family. Helen is survived by her children and their spouses; Lawrence and Joanne Golden of Lyndonville, VT, William Golden and his partner Ivan Saavedra of New York, NY, Raymond and Monica Golden of Ooltewah, TN, Mary Ellen Curtin of Granby, MA, Beth and Terry Kennedy of Poughkeepsie, Anne and Joseph Molloy of Pleasantville, NY and Martha Golden of Staten Island, NY. Also surviving are her grandchildren and their spouses; Lawrence and Melissa Golden, Richard Golden, Susanne and Keith Michel, James, Patrick and fiancé Nikki Blacio, and Eileen Kennedy, Megan and John Thoms, Carolyn and Joanna Molloy, and her great-grandchildren Sophie and Henry Michel and Lyric Golden. Helen is also survived by her brother and his wife Raymond and Pat Quirk of Orangeburg, NY and John Quirk of Kenoza Lake, NY. In addition to her husband who predeceased her, Helen was also predeceased by her brother William Quirk, and sisters Anna Norden and Mary Cook. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 2:00-6:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 17, 2012 at 10:00am at St. Martin de Porres Church and burial will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, NY.
