Obituary of Craig Silkworth

Craig S. Silkworth, 56, of Pleasant Valley NY passed away suddenly on April 26, 2013 while vacationing with his Wife, Linda, and visiting with his Son, Adam, in St. Kitts, West Indies. Craig was born on November 30, 1956 in Poughkeepsie, New York to the late George S. Silkworth, Sr. and Betty Jean Robinson Silkworth. On November 20, 1976, He married Linda Hawley Silkworth. Together, they raised their family in Pleasant Valley, New York. In addition to his wife, who was his life-long friend and soul mate, he is survived by his Son, Wade Silkworth and his Wife, Kelly Mawn Silkworth and his Son, Adam Silkworth. He was a very proud "Pop-Pop" to his two beloved and adored Granddaughters, Lyla Mackenzie and Hadley Elizabeth Silkworth. Craig is also survived by his Brother, George S. Silkworth, Jr. and his Wife, Shawn and his Brother, Brian Silkworth and his Wife, Diane, and his Sister, Jan Silkworth Dewey and her Husband, Steve, along with many other brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Craig grew up in Rochdale in the Town of Poughkeepsie where he made many life-long friends that he remained close with. He was the owner of Craig Silkworth Welding Service and got his start with his career working with his father in the family business. Craig loved to fly!! He started with hang-gliding, progressed to being a self-taught Ultra Light Pilot, and then continued on to obtain his Private and Commercial Pilot's Licenses and become a Certified Flight Instructor. On clear days in Dutchess County he could be seen overhead flying his own Piper Cherokee. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a life member of the Northern Dutchess Rod & Gun Club in Rhinebeck, New York. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family and friends at their weekend home in the Catskill Mountains. Friends and family are invited to say their farewells on Friday, May 3, 2013 between 4pm and 8pm at The Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave, Poughkeepsie, New York. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 10am at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery followed by a gathering at the Rochdale Fire House.
