Obituary of William Michael Doyle

William M. Doyle 77 of the town of Poughkeepsie passed away at home with his boys and family by his side. Bill was born September 27, 1935 in Poughkeepsie, New York , he was the son of the late Robert E. and the late Mary Frances Dwyer Doyle . Bill was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School. After graduation he went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force obtaining the rank of Staff Sgt. On September 8, 1956 at Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie Bill married his sweet heart Mary Ann Urban, she predeceased Bill on June 12, 1997. After getting out of the Air Force, Bill started his career at IBM Poughkeepsie . Bill went in to management at IBM East Fishkill in the CCP division and retired in 1992 as the Vice Presidents Assistant. A lot of people would also remember him from working at his Uncles Jewelry store, De'S in Poughkeepsie. Bill was a 52 year part time employee always working one night a week and on Saturday's. Bill was very involved in the community that he lived in. In the early 60's He was one of the founding members of the Town of Poughkeepsie Pop Warner, which is now known as the Hudson Valley Knights. He was also known as the voice of Pop Warner doing all the announcing at the Arlington Middle School for all of their games. He was a past member of the Town of Poughkeepsie Republican Committee, Past President and life member of Arlington Engine 1, an Honorary member of the Croft Corners Fire Department. Bill was also a past trustee and life member of the Poughkeepsie Elks Lodge 275. There was also Bills involvement with the Arlington Fire District. Bill was one of the first volunteer EMTs graduating from class at DCC. Bill graduated with many of the Career staff from the class that was taught by Earl Laffin. In 1963 he become the youngest Commissioner of the Arlington Fire District. Bill was a Commissioner for 28 and served as Chairman of the board for many of those Years. He was very involved with bringing the Paramedics Program to the Arlington Fire District. The fire department and the Career staff were a big part of Bills life and he considered them all his Family and he love them all. Bill is survived by his two son's and daughter in laws , Timothy P. and Kelly A. Doyle of Poughkeepsie , NY, Michael J. And Meghan A. Doyle of Beacon, NY, his grandson's Ryan Patrick and Sean Patrick Doyle both of Poughkeepsie . Bill is also survived by his granddaughter Logan Ann Doyle and his great granddaughter Emma Marie Doyle. Bill was predeceased by his Wife Mary Ann, his son Stephen and his brother Brother Stephen Damien. Calling hours will be Monday May 12, 2013 from 4 pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am Tuesday May 13, 2013 at Holy Trinity Church 775 Main Street Poughkeepsie. Burial will follow with Military Honors at St. Peter's Cemetery Salt Point Turnpike. The family would like to thank Hospice of Dutchess County, Jen Malloy, Karna Pfeifer and Mavis for the great care given to Pop over the last few days.
