Obituary of Joyce Forbes

Joyce died June 10, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Hospital after a long battle with cancer. She was born on September 2, 1946 in Paterson, NJ. She attended Wyckoff NJ public schools and graduated from Ramapo Regional High School in Franklin Lakes NJ in 1964. She graduated from St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center Nursing School in 1967. Her nursing career spanned 40 years, almost all in the operating room. The last 15 years of which was spent at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY where she achieved Senior Staff Nurse level. Her interests included genealogy, quilting, hand stitching and reading. She is pre-deceased by her husband of 20 years, John R. "Jack" Forbes. Joyce often called him her "hero". She is also survived by three children of a previous marriage and three step-children: Sgt. Darren Forbes NYS, Firefighter Ian Forbes and Heather Forbes. In addition there are three sisters, one brother, her parents and eight grandchildren: Kaitlin Forbes, William Berryann Siobhan Forbes, Erin Forbes, Thomas Berryann, John Patrick Forbes and Mackenzie & Rielly Arns. Calling hours will be held Wednesday June 12, 2013 6pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. Funeral Services will be held 10am Thursday at the Funeral Home with burial to follow at Rhinebeck Cemetery, Rhinebeck, NY.
