Obituary of Genoveva Chusan

Genoveva “Carmen” Chusan, age 83 was called home by her Lord and Savior on January 9, 2021.  Carmen was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico on September 13, 1938 to Pedro Morales and Felicita Tirado.

On August 15, 1977 she married Francisco Guillermo Chusan.  They were happily married for 43 years and together for over 51 years.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband, Francisco and their children; William Tobey and his long-time partner, Michelle; Jessie Martinez and her husband, William; Felicita Sarmiento and her husband, Samuel; Frank Chusan and his wife Nova; Maribel Chusan and her husband, Spencer.  

She is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Joey, Jessica, Michael, Christina, Devin, Gabriel, Joseph, Mikayla, Nyia, Elijah, Ryan Anne and Sarah.  In addition to 8 great grandchildren; Jayden, Sophia, Elise, Damien, Kiara, Kali Skyy, Rayna, Gianna and  baby Mateo (expected Feb 2021). 

She is survived by 2 siblings, Tito Morales and Maria Leon, her sister-in-law Teresa Chusan and countless nieces and nephews.

Carmen was predeceased by her parents, Pedro and Felicita; brother Pedro Morales, sister Lydia Morales, sister Reme and her loving children; Jose Luis Alejandro and loving daughter, Grace Morales.

Carmen will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother who dedicated her life to her family and to helping others.  Carmen was a long-time member of Seward Church, Bronx, New York where she taught Sunday School and enjoyed leading worship for many years.  Carmen attended Faith Assembly of God with her husband and children for the last 15 years.

Carmen was a woman of noble character who met each obstacle in life with strength and dignity.  She showed kindness to her family, friends and strangers alike, always putting their needs above her own.  She will be greatly missed.

Visitation scheduled for Saturday, January 16, 2021 from 10:00 – 11:00 am, followed by a service at 11:00 am at Faith Assembly of God, 25 Golf Club Lane, Poughkeepsie, NY.   Graveside service to follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill, NY officiated by Pastor Edward Jones.

Masks must be worn and social distance practiced during services.
