Obituary of Thomas Lee Rugar

Thomas Lee Rugar, 76 of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the Pines in Poughkeepsie, NY. Thomas was born on February 23, 1944 in Poughkeepsie, NY to Edward and Gladys Lee Rugar. Together since 1984, he married Benjamin Barile on April 24, 2010 in Poughkeepsie, NY and survives at home.

A local resident all his life, Thomas retired from IBM East Fishkill in 1999 as a Quality Control Inspector. He was also employed as a driver for Marianne's Floral Garden. He proudly served in the United States Army. Thomas was a member of the Arlington Reformed Church in Poughkeepsie, NY. He also had memberships with the IBM Quarter Century Club, Mid County Rod & Gun Club, Poughkeepsie Dart Ball League and the Mid County Bowling League.  

In addition to his spouse, Thomas is survived by his sister Christine Rugar, brothers Ferris Rugar of LaGrange, NY, Dave (Shirley) Rugar of Millbrook, NY, John (Kay) Rugar of Poughkeepsie, NY, Ray Rugar of Stanfordville, NY, sisters-in-law Karen Rugar and Sandra Rugar as well as many nieces and nephews. Thomas is predeceased by his parents and twelve siblings, Mary Grant, Estelle Doughty, Gladys Bennett, Susan Rugar, George A. Rugar, Sr. Edward Rugar, Robert Rugar, Richard Rugar, Harold Rugar, Ronald Rugar, Allan Rugar and Donald Rugar.

Calling hours will be on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 from 11:00am to 3:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc. 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 with a Funeral Service at 2:30pm.
