Obituary of Robert Joseph Monaco

Robert Joseph Monaco, 80, of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away at home on Monday, August 30, 2021.  Robert was born on September 21, 1940 in the Bronx, NY to the late Elgin Monaco and the former Pierina DeStefano. He married Annamarie DiDio on September 1, 1963 at St. Theresa's Church in the Bronx, NY she survives at home.

Robert was employed from 1969 to 1989 as a Supervisor for the NYC Dept of Sanitation. He was a part time Deputy Sheriff for the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office for 42 years as well as the Town of Wappinger Court Officer. Robert was a Charter Member of the Wappingers ELKS #2609 and a member of Poughkeepsie Elks#275. He loved hunting, golf,horses and coaching little league baseball.

In addition to his wife Annamarie, Robert is survived by his sons, Robert (Lisa) Monaco of Poughkeepsie, NY, Joseph (Diane) Monaco of Richmond, VA, grandchildren Robert J. Monaco and girlfriend Christine Ross of Wallkill, NY, Kate Monaco of Richmond, VA, great granddaughter Faith  Monaco of Wallkill, NY brother William (Diana) Monaco Wappinger, NY and several nieces and nephews.

There are no services and Burial is private. Memorial donations may be made to Hudson Valley Hospice at hvhospice.org. The family would especially like to thank Jen and Vito of Hospice for their compassion and care while taking care of Robert.
