Obituary of Keith G. Longbard

Keith G. Longbard, 71, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on March 15, 2022 at Westchester Medical Center Valhalla New York. He was born on September 21, 1950, in Poughkeepsie to the late Guy James and the late Dolores (Muccio) Longbard.

He was the husband of Patricia A. McPherson, they were married on September 15, 1979 at Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie.

Keith was a graduate of FDR High School Class of 1969 and a graduate of GM Auto Technical School in Tarrytown New York. 

He was a Supervisor for Dutchess County Highway Department, before retiring in 2005. He loved what he did and took great pride in his efficiency.  

He was involved with the Town of Poughkeepsie Little League and CYO Basketball. Over the years, Keith touched many people, developing lifelong friendships near and dear to his heart.   

Keith loved to fish, work on cars and most of all he loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren.

Occasionally passerby could catch him in his garage or driveway detailing his car, motorcycle, truck, camper, racecar or boat….He loved his vehicles.  In later years Keith’s happy place was on his pontoon boat, where he enjoyed spending time with friends and family.  He loved taking his nieces and nephews tubing on Copake Lake.…the FASTER the better.  He affectionately referred to them as “his victims!”

After retirement he became the family fix it man as he loved to tinker.  His grandsons’ go to phrase was always “give it to POP…POP can fix anything!”

Survivors include spouse Patricia Longbard, Poughkeepsie, New York, son David Guy Longbard, Hyde Park, New York, daughter and son in law Marcella and Derrick Byrne, Poughkeepsie, New York, grandchildren Dominic and Eli Byrne, Poughkeepsie,New York, sister and brother in law Linda and Wayne Berryann,McLeansville, North Carolina and countless in-laws, nieces and nephews.  

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 21, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.

Funeral Service will be held March 22, 2022 at 11:00 AM from Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery Mausoleum, South Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY.

Interment will take place in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY.
