Obituary of Simon John Adams

Simon John Adams – “John” to his friends and family – passed away peacefully on March 25, 2023.

John was born on May 5, 1951, in Dansville, N.Y. to the late Ralph and Doris Adams.

John was a graduate of Arlington High School, class of 1969. At Arlington he was a member of the

1966 Dutchess County Scholastic League Cross Country Championship Team.

John graduated from Boston University and pursued post-graduate studies at the University of Seville,

Spain.

He was a team member at Adams Fairacre Farms for many years. John enjoyed playing guitar and

piano, and as a big fan of musician Lou Reed, artist Andy Warhol and photographer Billy Name, who

was a close friend. John was a poet and artist, performing at the Barrett House in Poughkeepsie and

showing his work at several galleries in Woodstock, N.Y.

John is survived by his daughter Angela and husband Larry Shirley, son Shawn Palmer, grandchildren

Annabelle, Henry, Jonah and Brooklyn, brother Mark and wife Sue, and sisters Anabel and Mary and

their husbands Scott and Ed, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Melody, his son

Jamie and grandson Benjamin.

Everyone loved John, which about sums it up.

A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave Poughkeepsie, New York 12603 on Sunday, April 2, 2023, from 2:00pm until 6:00 pm.
